Barn Conversion, Morely St. Peter
Our clients, both teachers taking early retirement, commissioned us to assist them with the conversion of a small Norfolk barn into their permanent home.
The barn, standing in a large, isolated plot, is of mainly timber frame construction, with boarded external walls to the main barn, with either brick or clay lump walls to the lean-to elements. There is also a brick-built annexe. The fabric of the building was in a very poor state, although the main timber frame was generally sound.
The principle barn provides the main living area, with a galleried study above the kitchen at one end. The lean-to elements have been converted into bedrooms, bathrooms and a study. The annexe is a self-contained guest suite.
The property incorporates under floor heating and whole house ventilation.
